The residence, built in 1751, used to house the offices of the toll for the "droits de travers". This toll, symbolised by a chain, demarcated the zone of passage and payment. The revenue generated was such that the chain was nicknamed "la Chaîne d’Or" (the gold chain). In turn a café, a hotel, a restaurant, and even awarded one star in the Michelin guide, since 2008, the establishment has been managed by Stéphanie and Olivier BICOT, who have devoted themselves with great passion to recounting the history of this Norman building, Les Andelys and its surroundings, major centres with a rich cultural heritage.

Each room in the hotel is decorated in a personalised and thematic style according to the universes of the historical figures who have made a mark on Les Andelys or stayed there over the years.
During thematic evenings (for groups of 30 people minimum), discover the dining habits and customs in Roman, Medieval or Renaissance period, thanks to the stories recounted by Olivier BICOT, accompanied by meals prepared with dishes from the olden days.

Hotel open all year. Check-in is from 3.00 pm to 8.00 pm and on wednesdays and thursdays from 5.00 pm to 8.00 pm. From the middle of October to the middle of April, the restaurant is closed on sunday night, wednesday and thursday all day. On other days, the reception is open from 8.00 am to 10.00 pm.
During peak season, the hotel and restaurant are open every day and reception is open from 8.00 am till 10.00 pm and Check-in is from 3.00 pm to 8.00 pm and on wednesdays and thursdays from 5.00 pm to 8.00 pm.

La Chaîne d’Or's gourmet restaurant is open every day, from the middle of April to the middle of October.
From the middle of October to the middle of April, the restaurant is closed on Wednesday and Thursday all day and on Sunday evenings.
Opening times: from midday to 1.30 pm and from 7.30 pm to 8.30 pm.

We do not provide any room with access to disabled persons in la Chaîne d'Or due to a exemption from the French Historical Architect in a Historical Site. We do not have either any elevator in the hotel. We therefore take a special care and personalised help to our disabled guests during their stay in la Chaîne d'Or.
